I have seen on the internet the above list of nine statements about the Trinity. The list is entitled The trinity explained at last. Lol. The writer has listed nine misrepresentations of the Trinity. The writer has confused the Trinity with Modalism. Modalism teaches that God is a single person. The title should be Modalism Explained at Last LOL. Whoever wrote this against the Trinity and those who share it with others are ignorant of the Trinity.
The Bible and the Trinity do not teach that the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are the same person or one person. The definition of the Trinity is: Within the nature of the one true God, there exists simultaneously three eternally distinct persons. The first misrepresentation, “The Trinity teaches that God asked himself to go to earth to save mankind.” No the Father sent the Son. 1 John 4:14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. The second misrepresentation, “Then he agreed with himself and volunteered himself to himself to offer himself.” No Jesus offered Himself. Hebrews 9:14 “how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.” Hebrews 9:28 “so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.” Hebrews 10:12 “But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God,’” The third misrepresentation, “Then God Impregnated a woman as himself with himself.” No, Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit. Matthew 1:20 “But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, ‘Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.’” Luke 2:21 “And at the end of eight days, when he was circumcised, he was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.” The fourth l misrepresentation, “God Prayed to himself and glorified himself repeatedly.” No, Jesus prayed to the Father and the Father glorified Jesus with the glory He had before the world existed. In John 17:5 Jesus says “And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed.” The fifth misrepresentation, “God strengthened himself and talked to himself.” No. Is the first part of the fifth lie based on Luke 2:40? Where in Luke 2:40 does it say, “God strengthened himself”? If Jesus is the Wisdom of Jehovah in Proverbs 8:22, why did Jesus need to be fill with wisdom in Luke 2:40? Luke 2:40 “And the child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom. And the favor of God was upon him.” Where in the Bible does it say that God talked to himself? Trinitarians do not believe that God talked to Himself. In Matthew 26:39, 42 it says: 39 “And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, saying, ‘My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.’” 42 “Again, for the second time, he went away and prayed, ‘My Father, if this cannot pass unless I drink it, your will be done.’” Jesus prayed to the Father. God did not pray to himself. The Sixth misrepresentation, “Finally God forsook himself and sacrificed himself to prove his loyalty to himself.”
Matthew 27:46 “And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, ‘Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?’ that is, ‘My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?’” Luke 23:46 “Then Jesus, calling out with a loud voice, said, ‘Father, into your hands I commit my spirit!’ And having said this he breathed his last.” When Jesus said, “‘My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” he was speaking to the Father as we can from Luke 23:46 John 10:14-18 “14 I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, 15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep. 16 And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd. 17 For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it up again. 18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from my Father.” The seventh misrepresentation, “While dead he resurrected himself so he could exalt himself above himself.” The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are involved in the resurrection of Jesus. Father: Acts 5:30; Galatians 1:1 Son: John 2:19-22:; 10:17-18 Holy Spirit: Romans 8:11 The eighth misrepresentation, “Then he sat at his own right hand and waited till he placed his enemies as a footstool.” The text is from Hebrews 1:8-13. This passage starts off by calling Jesus the God in verse 8. The Greek says “toward but the Son The throne of you the God into the age of the age” When one compares Hebrews 1:10 with Isaiah 48:13, it should not be hard to realize that Jesus is Jehovah. Regarding Hebrews 1:13, again the Bible does not teach and Trinitarian do not believe that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are the same person. Why say this about this verse? The ninth misrepresentation, “Finally with Satan’s forces defeated, God would turn his kingdom over to himself that all things would become everything to himself.” No, Jesus delivers the kingdom to God. 1 Corinthians 15:24-28 24 Then comes the end, when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power. 28 When all things are subjected to him, then the Son himself will also be subjected to him who put all things in subjection under him, that God may be all in all. |
